Everything you need to know about rising damp and the StopDamp+ treatment system, from how it works to installation and buying.
Rising damp is moisture from the ground that is drawn up through porous masonry by capillary action. As it rises, it carries dissolved salts into the wall, which damage plaster and paint as the moisture evaporates.
Rising damp usually affects the lower part of a wall, rises from the base and often leaves white salt deposits. Penetrating damp and condensation can look similar, so the wall should be assessed before treatment. Our Rising Damp Guide explains the differences.
No. Paint only covers the symptoms. The moisture keeps rising behind it, and the peeling, staining and salt damage return. The source of the moisture has to be treated.
StopDamp+ is a BBA Agrément-certified rising damp treatment system. It combines three products that work together: Injection Cream, BaseShield and Cement Mix.
The Injection Cream is introduced into a prepared line of holes near the base of the wall. Its proprietary formula spreads into the surrounding masonry and forms a water-repellent barrier that stops moisture rising.
BaseShield protects the lower wall area below the injection line. Cement Mix helps new plaster resist the salts that remain in the wall after treatment. Together with the Injection Cream they treat the cause and restore the wall. See the Complete Kit.
StopDamp+ is a proven long-lasting system, certified by BBA Agrément.
