Installation Guide

Installing the StopDamp+ System

A step-by-step guide to treating rising damp with StopDamp+ — from removing contaminated plaster through to a dry, paint-ready wall.

Materials & Tools

Everything needed to carry out a complete StopDamp+ installation, from injection through to replastering.

Materials

  • StopDamp+ Injection Cream
  • StopDamp+ Baseshield
  • StopDamp+ Cement Mix
  • Portland cement — 50 kg bag(s)
  • Plastering sand
  • Water

Tools

  • Drill machine
  • 12 mm drill bit
  • Dust / debris removal tool
  • Caulking gun / applicator gun
  • Mixing equipment
  • Plastering tools
  • Moisture meter

Installation Process

Follow each stage in order. Skipping ahead — drilling before checking for services, or replastering before the injection line has been treated — compromises the whole system.

1

Remove Contaminated Plaster

Remove all loose, damaged and salt-contaminated plaster from the affected area, exposing the masonry sufficiently to carry out the treatment.

2

Identify the Mortar Course

Identify the appropriate horizontal mortar course for the treatment. Before drilling, check for concealed electrical cables, water pipes and other services.

3

Measure and Mark the Drilling Points

Measure and mark the drilling points 100 mm apart along the selected mortar course, using a level or straight edge to maintain a consistent horizontal line.

4

Drill the Treatment Holes

Using a 12 mm drill bit, drill the holes at the marked points — into the mortar course, not through the sandcrete blocks.

5

Clean the Holes

Thoroughly remove drilling dust and loose debris using the dust/debris removal tool. Debris left in the hole can prevent adequate penetration of the cream.

Readiness check: every hole should be clear, clean and ready to receive StopDamp+ Injection Cream.
6

Apply StopDamp+ Injection Cream

Using a caulking gun or applicator gun, inject StopDamp+ Injection Cream into each prepared hole, working systematically along the mortar course so that every hole is treated.

7

Apply StopDamp+ Baseshield

Apply StopDamp+ Baseshield below the injection line and down to the floor, ensuring continuous coverage across the required area.

8

Replaster with StopDamp+ Cement Mix

Mix 1 bag of StopDamp+ Cement Mix with 1 bag (50 kg) of Portland cement. StopDamp+ Cement Mix is an antisalt additive for replastering — combine with plastering sand and water as specified, and use the resulting mix to replaster the treated wall.

9

Allow to Dry

Allow the treated and replastered wall to dry thoroughly. Do not paint while the wall is still damp — confirm the surface is dry before proceeding.

10

Paint the Wall

Once the wall is sufficiently dry, paint the replastered surface to complete the treatment.
